General Hospitality
Some skills are needed in every hospitality job, whatever the venue: looking after guests, communicating clearly, handling complaints, working as a team and staying safe. These are the skills employers look for when they hire beginners.
Our general hospitality courses focus on these foundations. Start with the Hospitality Starter certificate if you have not chosen a role yet, or build a specific strength with Customer Service, Communication Skills or Workplace Safety. Study for free and pay only if you pass.

Choosing a course
It is a broad introduction for people who want to work in hospitality but have not chosen a role yet. It covers what every hotel, restaurant, café and bar expects from new staff — service, communication, teamwork, hygiene and safety — so you can apply for entry-level jobs with confidence.
Hospitality Starter CertificateCustomer service in hospitality is everything you do to make guests feel welcome, understood and looked after, from the first greeting to the goodbye. It means reading what guests need, communicating clearly, solving problems calmly and keeping the same standard on busy and quiet shifts.
Hospitality Customer Service CertificateHospitality venues are full of everyday hazards: wet floors, hot surfaces, sharp knives, heavy loads, cleaning chemicals and busy crowds. Safety training teaches you to spot these risks, prevent accidents and react correctly in an emergency, which protects you, your colleagues and your guests.
Hospitality Workplace Safety CertificateEvery shift depends on clear communication: with guests from many countries, with colleagues during a rush and on the phone. Good communicators listen carefully, speak plainly and politely, confirm what they have heard and adapt their tone to the person in front of them.
